EPV Recognized by the U.S. Dept. of Commerce with Export Achievement Award for Creating New Manufacturing Jobs in NJ

June 06, 2006 - Lawrenceville, NJ, USA:

Energy Photovoltaics, Inc. (EPV), a solar energy products manufacturer in New Jersey, USA, has received an award for “Recent Accomplishments in the Global Marketplace” from the U.S. Commercial Service of the U.S. Department of Commerce. The Export Achievement Certificate recognizes EPV for its initiative with the solar energy market in India and for securing a major $20 MM supply contract with Titan Energy Systems, Ltd., of Hyderabad India. Fulfilling the multi-year contract will result in more than 18 new manufacturing jobs at EPV's manufacturing facility in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.

The role of the Dept. of Commerce Export Assistance Centers is to help companies such as EPV export in order to keep the jobs here and bring back trade deficit dollars. "It has been a pleasure to work with EPV to realize its potential overseas and add manufacturing personnel. We look forward to working with more central New Jersey companies for international markets," said Tom Mottley, Senior International Trade Specialist for the U.S. Department of Commerce. EPV, a thin-film solar energy technology developer and a manufacturer of thin-film photovoltaic modules and products, worked with the U.S. Department of Commerce in both the U.S. and India and participated in a planned trade mission from India to encourage exports of renewable energy products to India.

The contract was a result, in part, of the U.S. Commerce trade mission, which was organized by the Trenton Export Assistance Center and the NJ Commerce and Economic Growth Commission. The Trenton Export Assistance Center provided pre-mission and ongoing post-mission export counseling to EPV in regard to doing business in India and other export markets.

Jeff Szczepanski, Director of Marketing for EPV, accepted the award. “The U.S. Department of Commerce's Trenton Export Assistance Center has been of enormous help to EPV as we have worked to achieve this major contract with our customer in India," said Szczepanski. “Without Commerce's initial trade mission, this contract would not have happened. We are creating valuable manufacturing jobs in the renewable energy sector here in New Jersey and simultaneously providing solar electric products to India.”

In addition to photovoltaic module sales to India, EPV has also exported to Germany, Portugal, Greece, and Spain. EPV manufactures thin-film photovoltaic modules and products and designs and builds thin-film photovoltaic manufacturing systems. EPV has delivered manufacturing systems to Hungary, China, and the U.S. A joint venture project for an a-Si manufacturing facility in Portugal was recently announced, and joint ventures are currently in development in Greece and numerous other locations in Europe.
